The Gratitude Project – Fundraising Campaign to Support Our Troops

The Gratitude Project at West Middle School was founded in 2004 as a way to support our troops. Over the years, the West community has sent hundreds of care packages to troops, donated thousands of new and gently used clothing items to our local Veteran’s Hospital, and our choir and orchestra have brought the holiday spirit to veterans in the hospital.

For the last two years, the West Middle School Gratitude Project has partnered with, raising money to purchase a puppy to help a veteran suffering from PTSD. We are partnering with the organization again this year, and are raising funds to purchase another puppy for a veteran. Last year, West 8th grade students and teachers were on hand when a puppy was presented to a US Army Veteran.

All donations are welcome! Donations of $5 or more will receive a sticker or dog tag with “WMS Loves USA” on the dog tag. The Puppy Project begins Thursday, November 8th to coincide with West’s Veteran’s Celebrations. The puppy and the veteran will receive all the training needed, and a fund will provide for the health care needs of the puppy. Belcaro Animal Hospitals will provide additional shots and neutering at no cost. Donations may be made before and after school at the main entrance. We will also have a Hat Day on November 16. For $1.00, students can wear a hat to support our veterans!

Fundraising Goal: $3,500 by Nov. 30.

Thank you for your continued support of this West Middle School tradition.
